Project Title:

Strengthening of Faith Based Actors in Social Protection in Uganda

Start Date:

End Date:

July 2020
July 2021

Description:

This project’s focus is to bring together faith actors and Christian movements who will be direct collaborators in the implementation of this project and consists of Pentecostals and Protestant denominations and churches in Uganda and Zimbabwe.

Although the SDGs key implementation approach is leaving no one behind, it is noted and evident that some actors especially the Faith Actors and other non-state actors are being left behind in state Social Protection programmes, yet the Faith Actors have historically been, and continue to remain, at the fore-front of providing social services and support to those living in the socio-economic margins. They have a critical role to play for just societies and securing social protection for all.

Partners:

Africa Platform for Social Protection

Implementing Member:

Uganda Reach the Aged Association (URAA)

Strategic Objective:

Creating Awareness and Knowledge Sharing

Project Results:

  • Having Faith Based Actors becoming more involved at the national level, addressing the needs of the particularly poor.
  • Churches have a better under-standing of what social security means and how to claim access rights.
