The project is intended to address some challenges faced with older person while accessing their monthly cash transfer fund under Social Assistance Grant for Empowerment (SAGE) programme, several challenges have continued to emerge in almost all the 135 districts. They are mostly concerned with exclusion of older persons aged 80 years and above from the grant as a result of mostly issues related to registration with the National Identification Registration Authority (NIRA).
Some of the issues include:
a) Registered with NIRA but lost their ID cards
b) Registered with NIRA but hadn’t picked their ID cards
c) NOT registered with NIRA for the National ID
d) Hold valid national IDs, but registered in different districts from where they currently reside
