Since 2011, the Platform has been very active in gaining understanding of current trends in social protection in Uganda, and using this knowledge to create awareness and generate debate about the importance of social protection in Uganda. From 2012 to date, with support from DFID through ESP, the Africa Platform for Social Protection (APSP), Help Age International (HAI), and Friederich Ebert Stiftung (FES), the Platform’s efforts have been placed on increasing local awareness of, and genetating grassroots demand for expansion of social protection to target the poor, marginalised, and excluded populations.
